Proper-Gander

Proper-Gander (aka Karl Wilhelm) started off his DJ'ing career back in 1996. First DJing at the famous '3rd BASE' clothing store which sold tickets to all the raves. Every week he would receive clothes and tickets to all the big parties in return for DJing at the store. At the ripe young age of 16, he was influenced by the emerging dance culture in his hometown of Durban (South Africa). Frequenting the infamous 'Club 3-30' on weekends and studying to become a computer nerd, he some how managed to get through college, while DJing and producing electronic music. Rising through the Durban Deep House scene, Proper-Gander would regularly play at legendary clubs such as TILT, 3-30, Zeta Bar and in the VIP rooms of all the raves in the late 90's. Over the last decade Proper-Gander kept his passion alive by distributing his sought after mix-tapes, DJing in dodgy clubs and playing on radio stations like 5FM and Good Hope FM. Proper-Gander signed his first commercial release to Gut Feel Records in 2008, then later that year played his first international gig at Bay Bar Cafe in Ibiza. His production style draws influence from the deep hypnotic rhythms of South America, whilst his live DJ sets incorporate Deep House, Techno and Progressive Trance. Currently you can catch him DJing at clubs like Origin & Absolute Bar (Durban), Truth (Johannesburg) and at his new weekly residency 'Bertoua Cafe Lounge'. On the production front, he is busy on a new EP and his latest tracks can be heard on his SoundCloud profile
