Off Meta had the privilege of "being there" during the halcyon days of the early US rave scene at ground zero in Orlando, Florida. At the time, the small, Disney-focused town became the launchpad for the American rave scene, driven by amazing DJs and promoters who were ahead of their time. Led by Kimball Collins at Aahz, they played upfront dance music (simply called house back then) that was generally only found across the Atlantic. Kimball and other local DJs mixed music expertly in burgeoning underground clubs until the late hours of the morning, often bleeding into the next day and igniting a decade-long explosion of club music throughout the city. As the saying goes, if you were there, you know. Aahz spawned a host of iconic clubs, including Firestone (now Vanguard), The Edge, The Abyss, Barbarella, Marz, and many more. Huge one-off raves like Trance Atlantic and Zen fast followed, setting the stage for today's EDC, bringing more global talent to the dancing city, and laying down a musical history that everyone who lived it will certainly "rave" about for the rest of their lives. Being a part of that scene led him, like many others, to pursue his own path in creating electronic music. A passion for DJing led to endless Orlando house parties in the early 1990s before he joined the Stellar brand and team in Washington, D.C. There, he secured a residency at Tracks nightclub and opened up gigs at clubs throughout D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland before finally returning to Orlando in 2004.
