Biography
Claire Marshall and Andy Byrne, the dynamic force behind Magnetik Source, unite the distinct perspectives of a musicologist and an archaeologist with the expertise of a highly regarded electronic music producer. Guided by a shared belief in the transformative power of electronic music, they intricately fuse the science of psychoacoustics, the innovation of jazz & classical, and the raw rhythms of Detroit techno. Byrne's journey in the dance music landscape dates back to the Second Summer of Love in 1988, leading to a successful career that includes over 70 releases, Radio 1 airplay, and supporting iconic DJs like Lee Burridge and Carl Cox. Labels such as Fluid, Renaissance, Global Underground and Hellpass saw Byrne as hot property in the 1990s and early 2000s progressive house scene. Meanwhile, Claire Marshall, influenced by Japan, Kate Bush, Vangelis, and Jean Michel Jarre, immersed herself in indigenous cultures and Detroit techno during her ten-month stint in Toronto. The inception of Magnetik Source took place at an underground party in the North West, where the pair rekindled a desire to release and perform. Marshall's social-historical influenced sound design and Byrne's studio prowess converge to create lush pads, soaring melodies, and hypnotic rhythms. With multiple tracks ready for labels and armed with an array of analog synths from Byrne’s collection, the pairing plans to venture into live performances, reviving the euphoria of dance
