that kid

Jimmy Hackett aka ‘that kid’ began his journey into house at a young age, growing up in Chicago, then Houston (where he spent most of his childhood). Being around the end of the inception of house music in Chicago, that kid listened to B96, recording tapes of various shows and songs: playing and rewinding them throughout his childhood. Growing up in Houston as a house music lover was very different, as the scene had not quite began in the city. Once the late 90s came around, the music he loved began sprouting up at various clubs in Houston’s downtown district. Clubs like Prague, Privilege, Spy, Some, and finally, Hyperia (the spawn of Some’s late owner. Music had always been a love of that kid’s, ultimately leading into him attaining his BA in Music Production. Through his schooling and working to hone his craft, he joined the event group, Cirque Noir, and opened for the likes of Monkey Safari, Super Flu, Blond:ish, and HVOB. This is that kid’s first solo show, filled with house, melodic techno, and progressive sounds, the listener will be in for a treat every month.
