James Reid

James Reid is a British DJ, producer and record label owner who has spent the last 9 years living and playing in Ibiza as a resident DJ. His DJ life started back in 1998 in his hometown of Harrogate playing local bars and nightclubs in Leeds, which then led him to work summer seasons in Ibiza from 2003 where he learnt his craft as a resident DJ in some of the island’s leading music venues. James’ musical inspirations originate from the US West Coast sound of the early 2000’s. This dubby percussive genre then lead him to find the underground sounds of France and Romania which now best represent his style and direction. In James’ sets an infectious groove is always present with his stripped back minimal sound. Having lived on Ibiza full time since 2011 it was during the summer of 2016 that James made his debut at Space Ibiza after being signed to Midnight Social Recordings he was asked to play at their label showcase party at Carl Cox’s Revolution night during Space’s iconic closing season. A year later James made his debut on Australian soil and has for the past 3 winters continued his allegiance to Space by playing at the ‘Space Ibiza on Tour’ annual New Year’s Day parties in Sydney. Further bookings in Australia have followed with annual appearances at Australia’s premier electronic music brand ’S.A.S.H’. As a producer has James released on labels including ‘Zingiber Audio’, Whostryo,’ Plus Plus’ and Natural Rhythm. In 2018 he made the natural progression as a producer and decided it was time to create an identity for his musical style by starting his own vinyl only record label ‘Sonet Music’. In his then home of Ibiza James hosted Sonet’s first label party which saw him share the DJ roster with Circo Loco’s Clive Henry. Now in 2020 with solid studio time booked and some time out from his Ibiza home James is based back in England and focusing full time on his own music and his label. James joined us back in the winter of 2016, 2017 during our early days for one of our very first circle. events in Ibiza, we now welcome him back to feature on the show.
