G-Mohris
Biography
G-Mohris, the man behind Per-vurt, explored his inner drive for music since he was 5 years old, when his father came back from one of his trips with 4 gifts to his 4 children: a super catchy 4X4 that runs by a remote control, a big endless puzzle, a small mini laptop full of games, and a Casio keyboard. Of course, the Casio was chosen eagerly by the 5 years old kid. Since then, more keyboards were gifted to him, bigger ones, with more tweaks and options, and the little kid started discovering the secrets of the scales, chords, keys, harmonics, and grooves. G-Mohris nurtured his music interest year after year, built up a new interest of collecting HI-FI systems, vinyls, and cassette tapes, until he bought his first CDJ set at age 12 when all the green and orange buttons were so alien to him, and when the DJ technology was on its very early steps. This is when G-Mohris knew he is in love with being a DJ. He started hooking up small house parties and always failed in making the people happy, simply because he was exclusively interested in electronic underground dance music, which was something so new while everybody was asking him to play “folklore”! At age 15, G-Mohris started going to small bars in town all alone, meeting new people, since most of his friends were playing in “Fun Time Pizza”, until he became so fascinated by a club called B018, that was (and still) a dream club playing only underground music, the music he has always dreamed of playing and knowing more about. The club opens at 3am, and G-Mohris used to always be there after a long night moving from one club to another, with a fake ID, a thicker voice, and a prepared manner, but always failed in getting in, until one day, the dream came true, and he got pushed in by his cousin. That was the moment everything changed. It was 1999. In 2002, G-Mohris met Fady Ferraye who took over the residency in B018 since 2000 introducing to the Lebanese scene a deep underground dark progressive house and orgasmic techno and acid sound that blew up the minds of the crowd. 104 Fridays and Saturdays out of 104 in a year, G-Mohris attended B018, exploring the sound spectrum, and the vibe of the living Lebanese nights. In 2003 G-Mohris took his very early residencies in many of the small to medium clubs, and started to build friendships with foreign DJ Booking agencies, international DJs and Producers who were considered idols to him, and of course with local stars. Years passed, and G-Mohris saw himself moving into Music Production and event management. Although university years were very busy managing and promoting events, clubbing on a daily basis, attending almost all the outdoor events featuring the world’s top djs, and going nuts on the weekends, G-Mohris graduated from the Lebanese American University with a distinction grade. In 2006 G-Mohris booked Fred Baker from Belgium who was the master producer of the biggest trance anthems at that periode, and launched an unforgettable event in B018, then booked Snake Sedrick whose tracks were massively played in B018 too, then promoted a series of events featuring Fred Baker and Greg Nash, Ron Van Den Beuken, Ignazzio, Leon Bolier and Joop, Hassan Rassmy, Marco V, Dubfire, Steve Lawler, Deep Dish … In the same year, and right after the war ended, G-Mohris took his most challenging step, launching his very first business firm, called Per-vurt. A store located in the heart of Beirut, with a registered business domain name, and a multi faceted approach, including a DJ & Music Production School, a Music Technology Store, 3 Record Labels, a Radio Show, a Dj Agency, an Event Management, a Corporate Music Management Firm, a Recording Studio, a CD Shop, a Graphic Design Company, and a Dj Room. G-Mohris continued his studies in Music Business and Music Production in one of the world's best online schools, Berklee, and started releasing on different labels under his 2 aliases, G-Mohris and Chris Rubz.
