Birds in Paradise is the musical brainchild of best friends Beki Powell and Katie Ox, who first bonded over their shared love of music and, naturally, birds. The two first crossed paths at the legendary Electric Pickle in Miami, Beki behind the decks as a resident, Katie on the dance floor. Their instant connection grew into a creative partnership, sealed when Katie playfully dubbed Beki her “DJ fairy godmother” after a gentle push to take her talents public. Katie’s debut was a hit, and Beki invited Katie to join her all-female DJ collective. After the collective dissolved, Beki and Katie continued working together, merging their sensitive musical instincts with light-hearted spirit. Today, this feathery duo is known across Miami for activating dancefloors with their dynamic, groove-centric sets, while drawing a loyal flock wherever they take flight. The Birds hold multiple DJ residencies around Miami and host an original event series at the Sagamore Hotel Pool. With two radio shows and original productions underway, Birds in Paradise are on a mission to inspire and uplift – and they show no signs of landing anytime soon.
