B.O.B.

Biography

Some wines get better with age. But these wines must be good to begin with. In the early 80's, when the notorious Rotterdam Dj B.O.B. (alias Bob van der Linden) was still in his teens, the maturation process started when he got hooked to the soul, disco and funk from the likes of Hamilton Bohannon and Silvester and to the - for those days - forward thinking electronic dance from Patrick Cowley. Before Dj-ing as we know it since the late 80's was born, B.O.B started to remix music using tape decks, cutters and scotch tape. It earned him five appearences in the famous Dutch radio-show The Soul Show, in which legendary host Ferry Maat interviewed him and played his remixes avant la lettre. In the early 90's the promising juice became an excellent wine when B.O.B. got bitten by a huge house bug, began to Dj and - with friends - started to organize the now infamous Joy Factory parties in clubs like Nighttown in Rotterdam. Soon his Dj-ing brought him to many clubs and festivals, In Holland and abroad. His Tranceporter Mix CD's became international hits and earned him kudo's from the most spoiled dance connaisseurs. At the top his game B.O.B. made an unusal decision. He gave up on Dj-ing to start a advertising agency. The wine was laid to rest. But some years ago he discovered that the fever of Dj-ing was never gone. He picked up where he left the scene at the end of the last century. With devastating results. This year B.O.B. put 40 years of dance experience, maturing and musical taste in a set at the Amsterdam Dance Event where he shared the spotlight with Nick Muir of Bedrock and John Digweed fame who responded on B.O.B.'s set with the words: 'Where has this man been hiding all these years?' The wine is ready to drink now. And what a taste B.O.B. 1966 has! Listen to this exclusive mix for DepGlobe on Frisky Radio and let the music fill your appetite for quality dance.
