Alex Li

Alex was born in London but grew up in Hong Kong listening to a wave of New Romantic groups in the 80’s (Depeche Mode, Spandau Ballet, Simple Minds) and later Synth-based music (Joy Division/New Order, Electronic & Kraftwerk). He acquired some 1210’s in 1992 and initially started playing acid house before moving into a more progressive sound which he played out in the mid 90’s in the developing HK scene alongside Lee Burridge and Joel Lai (Post-97). He moved to London in 1995 and played a number of venues over the next few years both in London and Cambridge, honing a sound that utilises techno basslines with warmer elements found in house music, borrowing from labels such as LNOE, DIYnamic, Mobilee, Connaisseur, Afterlife and Innervisions with edits of older classics from Guerilla, Jackpot & Deconstruction amongst others. He has recently played extended sets at a number of festivals including Burning Man (Multiverse) and Rave Family.
