Alan Epps

Biography

Alan Epps started his musical career quite late in life, although he has been steeped in music since childhood. Alan was an avid researcher of dance music, well before he started playing, and was known to feed new records to his DJ friends back when vinyl was king. A late bloomer, Alan had immediate success, almost from the time he bought his first DJ equipment, scoring a weekly residency at SushiSamba in South Beach only 9 months after he started playing. Alan became a regular at Behrouz’s world-renowned South Beach club “Do Not Sit On The Furniture,” where he was eventually invited to play, and offered a residency a few months later. Alan’s residency has run a bit over 3 years, and the list of headliners with whom he’s played is a “Who’s Who” of the industry, including some of Alan’s favorite DJs and producers, like Behrouz, Agoria, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Rodriguez Jr. Jimpster and many more. The diversity of DJs with whom he has played is an homage to Alan’s stylistic versatility. Alan is a very eclectic DJ, but his signature sound is deep, hypnotic and melodic, and vacillates, mainly, between different styles of house, techno and disco. Alan’s philosophy is that, if a selection works, the age of the selection is not important. Good music is timeless. Alan likes a good balance of new and not-so-new in his mixing. You never know exactly what you’re going to get. Expect to be surprised.
